To restore hair, we must first understand the composition of the hair.
Hair structure
Hair scaly: The outermost layer of the hair, the healthy skin is intact and compliant, so the hair surface is very smooth and shiny. And if the fur is uplifted, damaged or even missing, the rough surface will diffuse the light and the hair will naturally become frizzy.
Hair core: The next layer of hair scales is the most important part of the hair, and it is also the most important part that determines the colour and straightness of the hair.
Hair medulla: Located in the innermost layer of hair, it has little effect on hair characteristics.
There are four main categories of hair damage:
Mildly damaged hair: The main reason is that the hydrophobic protective layer is damaged, which causes the corresponding loss of moisture in the hair. The hair is naturally dull and frizzy.
Moderately damaged hair: The reason is that the hair scales are damaged and fall off, the hair cuticle has holes, and the hair lacks nutrition. If you do not receive effective care for a long time, your hair will become dry, knotted and difficult to comb.
Severely damaged hair: The reason is that the hair epidermis and cortex are damaged, mainly due to fragile bifurcation. When the hair is damaged and easy to break and split ends, you must reluctantly cut off the split ends, because even if you use the best shampoo, you can no longer restore the split ends.
Dyed and perm hair quality: The main reason is that the hair scales are damaged, the pigment molecules cannot be locked, and the colour is easy to fade. The most obvious manifestation is then fade.
Perhaps in order to change the status quo, you often choose to go to the barbershop to straighten and soften the treatment, but in contrast, how to improve the problem of dry and frizz is fundamental.
The problem of dryness and frizz depends largely on the health of the hair scales.
With a clear understanding of the structure of hair, it is not difficult to understand why hair scales are so important. The main behaviours that affect dry and frizzy hair:
1. Excessive dying and perming of hair
After dyeing and perming, the hair will become disordered and the hair will be very sensitive. In severe cases, the hair will be damaged and peeled off, which will eventually cause the hair to dry, and the feel and gloss will decrease.
2. Strong ultraviolet radiation
The strong ultraviolet rays in summer will damage the hair scales in the hair, and long-term exposure to the sun will also cause the loss of moisture in the hair, resulting in dry and frizzy.
3. Abnormal heating
Frequent use of heating tools such as straight clamps and hair dryers will evaporate the moisture trapped in the original hair, which will eventually lead to dry and dull hair.
4. The shampoo temperature is too high
Hot water will damage the hair and scalp, causing the hair to become extra dry. The recommended water temperature is around 40℃.
After the hair is perm, it is easy to cause damage to the hair quality. If you meet a hairdresser with poor craftsmanship, it is possible that your hair will become thatch after autumn.
So how to remedy damaged hair after a perm? What should be done after the perm so that the hair after the perm can restore soft and strong hair as soon as possible? After doing these points, there is no problem if the hair after the perm is smooth:
·Choose the right hair mask and shampoo
After a perm, no matter how damaged your hair is, be sure to use a hair mask series and choose a hair mask according to your own hair quality. At the same time, it is matched with a series of shampoos that nourish the hair and have a repairing effect, so that it has a certain repair and protection effect on your hair after a perm.
·Choose suitable water temperature
Especially in such a summer, do not choose cold water when washing your hair, even for hair that has not been permed. But overheated water is a taboo after a perm.
·Be careful to wash your hair clean when shampooing
When washing hair, many people feel that after perm, they have to be handled gently, as if the curls are straightened with a little harder. So when washing your hair, just take a simple wash. This is not advisable, as the more badly shampooed and permed hair will only cause more problems.
Keep combing your hair every day
The combs used for straight hair and perm are completely different, and many people basically choose not to comb their hair after perming. I once heard a female colleague who likes perming say that she doesn’t comb her hair for a month after perming. After a month, the hair will almost become knotted and cannot be combed, so I have to cut it off. You can change the comb used after perm to comb your hair so that the curls will not be loosened, and the hair will not be knotted without combing.
·Pay attention to the strength of wiping hair
After washing your hair, do not use a hairdryer. Wrap the hair with a dry towel and press it gently to squeeze out the moisture in the hair. When the hair is not dripping, pat the hair directly with the towel. This will easily dry the hair. Will affect hair curls, and will not damage hair.
·Massage hair
Every morning, noon, and evening, massage the hair with your own hands, which will help the blood circulation of the scalp, and it will quickly repair the severely damaged hair after the perm.
A balanced diet isn’t just good for your hair, it’s just plain good for you. Specific ingredients, however, such as protein omega-3, and biotin are all essential for long, thick, healthy hair. Think whole foods, fruits and veggies, and whole grains. Not only do these provide you with great hair, but skin, digestion and heart health also. Protein is essential for luscious hair, as well as iron, Vitamin A, and C. Daily supplements, can help provide you with what your diet may be missing, but be sure to check with your doctor first.
As for those supplements that promise long, luscious hair specifically, be sure to carefully read the labels and ask your health professional.
Do you use a heat protectant every time you blow-dry or flat iron your hair? Probably not, but it is an absolute must. Exposing hair to high heat without any protectant product creates damaged hair quicker and makes it harder to fix. Try limiting heat styling to once or twice a week and always, we repeat, always use a heat protectant serum or spray.
Another way to fix heat damaged hair? Fix the way you blow-dry. It’s best to blow dry your hair after letting it air dry for a few minutes, and not when it is dripping wet. Blot your wet hair (do not rub!) with a microfiber towel if you don’t want to wait for it to air dry. If you’re using a brush when blow-drying, don’t pull too hard on the hair and look for a brush with smooth synthetic bristles for faster drying and less damage to the hair than those big, round brushes. Finally, pull the nozzle away from your head. Keeping the blow dryer about two inches away is effective in terms of drying and styling, but also much safer for your hair.
