How to Apply & Remove Weft Hair Extensions ?
How to apply weft hair extensions?
There are 4 ways to install Hair Weft:
- Directly Sew: Sew weft directly into your hair.
- With Micro Ring: Using beads allows you to attach hair.
- With Glue: Fasten the tape to the seam of the weft, glue the hair pieces into your hair.
- With Clips: Sew the small clips onto the weft.
How to Remove Sew-in Weft Extensions at Home?
1. Separate the Hair to Expose the Sewn Weft
Start by sectioning your hair to reveal the sewn weft. Remove one stitch at a time, working through the wefts layer by layer. To keep hair out of the way, simply secure it at the top of your head with a hair tie, leaving the extensions exposed.
2. Cut the Threads
Next, use scissors to cut the threads holding the wefts in place. After cutting, gently pull the threads out using a needle tail comb or a rat-tail comb until the weft loosens. Repeat this process until all of the wefts have been removed.
If the wefts are sewn in with micro rings or your hair is braided, you’ll need to address this accordingly. For braided extensions, remove the hair tie holding the braid and carefully detangle it with a comb. If the wefts are attached with micro rings, use pliers to squeeze the rings until they loosen.
3. Brush Your Hair
Once the extensions are removed, gently brush your hair with our luxury extension brush to eliminate any strands that should have fallen out but were stuck due to the wefts. This may be challenging, so consider using a detangling spray, conditioner, or hair oil to make the process easier.
4. Wash Your Hair
After brushing, it’s time to wash your hair. Don’t forget to wash and comb through the hair bundles to ensure they can be reused.
Cleaning & Care
How to wash hair extensions?
Selecting the right care products is crucial. Make sure to check the ingredient list and avoid products containing:
SLS, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, denatured alcohol, ethanol, SD alcohol 40, propanol, Isopropyl alcohol and propyl. These ingredients strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to drier hair more prone to tangling or matting. Prolonged use can significantly impact the integrity of your hair, reducing the lifespan of your extensions.
Pro Tip:
During your shower, turn the temperature to cold just before finishing and give your hair a cold rinse. This helps maintain tight bonds and closes your pores
Opt for Sulfate-Free Shampoo:
Avoid shampoos containing sulfates as they can harm hair extensions. While sulfates create lather, they strip natural oils from the hair, resulting in dryness and frizz. To retain natural oil and moisture, opt for sulfate-free shampoo.
How to care hair extensions?
- Washing & Conditioning: Use a sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo to wash the hair extensions. Gently massage the shampoo into the hair, avoiding rough movements that could tangle or damage the extensions. Rinse thoroughly with cool water. Try to only wash two or three times a week. Max. To get through the week with as little washes as possible, pick up a great dry shampoo. Apply a good-quality conditioner to the hair, focusing on the mid-lengths to ends. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the root area or the extensions attachment points, as this can weaken the bond.
- Detangling: Use a wide-tooth comb or a special loop brush designed for hair extensions to detangle the hair gently. Start from the ends and work your way up to the roots, being careful not to tug or pull excessively. Brush often, detangle each morning + before bed at night. Place your hand at the top of your extension to avoid extreme pulling or tugging when brushing your hair.
- Drying: Pat the hair extensions dry with a towel to remove excess water. Avoid rubbing or wringing the hair, as this can cause tangling. Let the hair air dry whenever possible to minimize heat damage.
- Bedtime Care: Before going to bed, loosely braid or tie the hair in a low ponytail to prevent tangling while sleeping. You can also use a silk or satin pillowcase, as these materials create less friction and reduce the risk of hair breakage.
- Avoiding Chemicals: Minimize exposure to chlorine from swimming pools and saltwater from the ocean, as they can be harsh on the hair and cause fading or dryness. If you swim, wear a swimming cap or rinse the hair immediately after to remove any harmful chemicals.
- Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular maintenance appointments with a professional stylist to ensure the extensions are secure and in good condition. They can also trim any split ends to keep the hair looking healthy.
- Avoiding Heavy Products: Avoid using heavy styling products or oils near the extensions attachment points, as this can lead to slippage and premature loosening of the extensions.
- Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.
- Curl, style, dye to darker color.
- Wash, dry, brush gently, always from root to end.
- Use heat protection.
- Sleep with a silk pillow.
