Hair Extensions Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions you need to know about hair extensions and services to help you make a safe and informed decision.
Genaral Question
Remy hair has intact cuticles that are aligned in the same direction, which helps prevent tangling and maintain a natural appearance.
Virgin hair refers to hair that has never been chemically treated or processed. This means it has not been dyed, bleached, permed, or subjected to any chemical treatments, and is typically sourced from the same donor.

Yes! All YoungSee Hair extensions are made from 100% real human hair—soft, tangle-resistant, and designed to blend naturally with your own hair. They can be curled, straightened, and even colored. Our hair is ethically sourced from donors in Brazil, Russia, parts of Europe, and Vietnam.
If installed correctly and properly cared for, hair will not be damaged.
However, if the extensions are not customized to your personal needs or if the quality of the hair is not suitable for healthy hair growth, damage may occur. The following situations could lead to damage:
●Extensions that are too heavy, thick, or tight: If your natural hair is not sufficient to support the weight of improperly sized extensions, this can result in hair being pulled out from the follicles.
● Extensions applied too tightly: This can eventually cause hair to break under the wrong bonding conditions.
●Improper sealing of extensions: If the old adhesive is not completely removed when replacing with a new adhesive, this can lead to mold growth under the extensions.
Yes, hair extensions are a great way for adding thickness to thin and fine hair, without causing any damage to your natural hair or hindering hair growth in the meantime. We recommend our Seamless Tape 、Genius Weft and Butterfly Weft Collections for thinner hair types.
Yes, hair extensions are possible after chemotherapy! As long as the new hair growth after chemotherapy is at least 1.5 to 2 inches long, certain extension methods can be an excellent option for managing post-chemo hair that is curly and hard to style. The thicker the hair, the more length is required to achieve the most natural blend.
Different types of hair extensions have different specifications.

Generally, we recommend 100-150g to achieve a full head. However, the specific amount needed can vary based on the length and thickness of the customer's hair. Customers with less hair might only need 100g, while those with more hair may require 180-200g.

Proper care methods can help your extensions last longer and look more beautiful! Here’s a quick guide:
●Wash Sparingly: Wash every 15-20 wears using a sulfate-free and alcohol-free shampoo.
●Hydrate Regularly: Use a deep conditioner or hair mask regularly to keep the hair moisturized.
●Gentle Detangling: Use a wide-toothed comb or loop brush, starting from the tips and working your way up.
●Thorough Drying: Never sleep with wet hair. Allow the extensions to air dry as much as possible.
●Smart Styling: When using heat tools, keep the temperature below 350°F and use a heat protection spray.
●Safe Sleeping: Braid or loosely tie up your hair before sleeping to protect the extensions.
For more care methods, please refer to our care manual.
Yes, but avoid frequent washing.Hair Extensions do not absorb natural oils and nutrients like our own hair does. Washing too infrequently can lead to oil buildup, while excessive washing can make the extensions more prone to dryness, causing breakage or shedding, which ultimately shortens their lifespan.
Cleaning Steps:
Detangle the Extensions&Remove any knots——Wet the Extensions &Apply Shampoo(Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner)——
Rinse with Warm Water&Apply Conditioner——Rinse Again&Air Dry(avoiding high heat)——Use a Small Amount of Hair Oil
For more detailed steps, please refer to our care manual.
Storage Instructions:
To properly store your wigs, keep them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. It is best to use the original packaging or a breathable container, such as a silk bag or a storage bag with a hanger. Avoid moisture, and ensure the wig is completely dry to prevent mold and bacteria growth. Before storing, use a wide-toothed comb to remove any tangles or knots.
After the extensions are applied, depending on the method used, we recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours before washing your hair at home. We do not recommend washing your hair every day; the ideal washing frequency is every 2 to 4 days, or whenever your hair feels oily or dirty.
When choosing hair care products for extensions, the most important principle is to ensure that you use products that keep the hair moisturized while avoiding those that contain the following ingredients: sulfate, SLS, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, denatured alcohol, ethanol, SD alcohol 40, propanol, isopropyl alcohol, and propyl. These ingredients can strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and increased tangling. Prolonged use can severely damage the integrity of the hair and shorten the lifespan of the extensions. This is especially important if you live in a dry climate.
Yes! All YoungSee Hair extensions are made from 100% real human hair, so you can use suitable heat styling tools and approved hair care products for blow-drying, curling, and straightening.
Here are some important points to keep in mind:
●Use a Heat Protectant Spray: Always apply a heat protectant spray before using heated tools to prevent hair damage.
●Keep the Temperature Low to Medium: We recommend keeping the temperature of styling tools below 350°F (180°C) to maintain the health of the hair and extend its lifespan.
●Limit Usage: Try not to use heat styling tools every day. Just like your own hair, excessive heat can lead to dryness over time.
●Avoid Applying Heat to Tape or Bonds: If you have tape-in or I-tip extensions, do not apply heat directly to the adhesive or beads.
Yes, you can dye your extensions darker or add highlights. You can also use purple shampoo or conditioner to help adjust the color, making it blend better with your natural hair color. However, it is not recommended to bleach or lighten the hair, as bleaching can damage the cuticles and shorten the lifespan of the extensions.
It is advisable to have a professional perform the coloring to ensure that both your natural hair and extensions are protected. Perform a test on a small section of hair first, and use semi-permanent or temporary dyes. After coloring, make sure to regularly use a deep conditioning treatment to maintain moisture.
We do not recommend wearing extensions while swimming—especially in pools or the ocean. Chlorine in pools, salt in seawater, and dirt in all bodies of water can dry out the hair and cause damage. Water can also loosen the attachment points, leading to extensions slipping out or tangling.
Sweat is salty and acidic, which can dry out your extensions, making them more prone to tangling and accelerating wear. To prolong the lifespan of your extensions, try to minimize their exposure to sweat.
If you want to swim or exercise while wearing extensions, please make sure to:
●Braid or tie your hair in a ponytail to reduce tangling
●Avoid fully saturating your hair
●Rinse your hair with fresh water immediately after swimming
●Use a deep conditioning treatment to restore moisture
For best results and longer wear, we recommend removing your extensions before swimming.
When sleeping with extensions, tie your hair in a loose braid or use a silk pillowcase or sleep cap to reduce tangling.
Real hair extensions can lack natural moisture, making them prone to dryness and tangling, especially when not properly cared for. Factors like excessive heat styling, dyeing, over-washing, using overly long extensions, and dry weather can contribute to this.
To keep your extensions soft and smooth, develop these care habits:
●Regular Gentle Brushing
Use a wide-tooth comb or a loop brush designed for extensions. Always start from the ends and work your way up to avoid breakage.
●Use the Right Products for Moisture
Choose sulfate-free and alcohol-free shampoos and conditioners, but avoid applying too much at the roots or on the attachments. Moisturizing oils like argan oil, coconut oil, or castor oil can help. Use a deep conditioning mask weekly to keep your extensions smooth.
●Apply Heat Protectant to Avoid Damage
Always use a heat protectant spray before using heated styling tools to minimize damage, and limit heat styling to prevent dryness.
●Avoid Sleeping on Wet Hair; Use Silk Pillowcases
Make sure extensions are completely dry before bed; loosely braid or tie them in a low ponytail to prevent tangling. Silk or satin pillowcases reduce friction and prevent knots.
●Minimize Friction and Sun Exposure
Be mindful of rubbing against scarves or jackets, which can tangle extensions. Limit exposure to direct sunlight and wind. Tying hair up while outdoors can help!

Yes, just like your natural hair, strong pulling can cause slight shedding, which is normal.Additionally, improper installation methods, the cleanliness of the hair, and excessive styling can all affect the shedding of extensions. Click here to view our care guide for more information.
Remy hair can last 3 to 6 months, while virgin hair can last 8 to 12 months. However, this greatly depends on how you maintain it. If properly cared for, it can be used for a longer time.
Additionally, the duration of extension use is related to several factors:
●Method of extension application
●Thickness of your natural hair
●Health of your natural hair
●Your level of sweating or amount of exercise
●Oiliness of your hair
●Frequency of washing your hair
●Frequency of styling
●Growth rate of your natural hair
To achieve a seamless blend between extensions and your natural hair, it’s important to select the right color, strategically place the extensions, and style both your natural hair and the extensions together. Tools such as curling irons or straighteners can help create a uniform texture. Combing the roots and layering the extensions can also enhance the natural effect.

Hair Weft
Weft hair extensions are strands of human or synthetic hair sewn onto a thin, flexible track (the "weft") that stylists apply semi-permanently to your natural hair for added length, volume, or color. They can be fixed to natural hair using methods such as sewing, gluing, or beading.
We offer five types of Hair Bundles:
●Butterfly Weft/PU Hole Weft Hair: Made with an ultra-thin polyurethane (PU) base and advanced machine-inserting technology, they are lightweight and seamless, allowing for quick installation using microbeads without glue, creating a flat and natural look, suitable for fine or sparse hair. They fit closely to the scalp, avoiding heaviness and pulling, and can be quickly installed and reused.
●Flat Silk Weft: Hair is sewn onto an ultra-thin, flexible silk base, creating a very flat and lightweight curtain of hair that fits naturally and comfortably against the scalp, achieving an invisible and seamless effect.
●Handtied Weft: Features an ultra-thin design that minimizes visibility in the hair.
●Genius Weft: Combines the advantages of Machine Weft and Handtied Weft, customizable in length according to the client's head shape and size, thin, flexible, and comfortable.
●Machine Weft: Hair bundles are sewn onto a long and continuous weft using machines, resulting in a thicker product compared to hand-tied extensions, offering cost-effectiveness and durability, ideal for those needing significant volume additions for medium to thick hair.
●Butterfly Weft/PU Hole Weft Hair: 50 grams per pack, 25 grams machine-inserted, 25 grams PU, curtain length 30 cm. 16" thickness: 0.8-0.9 mm; 18" - 20" thickness: 0.75-0.85 mm; 22" - 24" thickness: 0.7-0.8 mm.
●Flat Silk Weft: 50 grams per pack, curtain length 80 cm, thickness 0.75-0.85 mm.
●Handtied Weft: 14"-18" 10 grams per pack, curtain length 11 inches; 20"-24" 15 grams per pack, curtain length 13 inches.
●Genius Weft: 25 grams per pack, curtain length 40 cm.
●Machine Weft: 50 grams per pack, curtain length 70 cm.
Handtied Weft cannot be trimmed, as this can cause the extensions to unravel and fall out. Butterfly/Silk/Genius/Machine Wefts are made with tight and durable sewing methods, and can be trimmed as needed without worry about the top coming undone.
Machine Weft and Handtied Weft have "Return Hair."
Butterfly Weft, Genius Weft, and Flat Silk Weft do not have "Return Hair."
●Sew-In Method: Extensions are sewn together with natural hair using a needle and thread, causing minimal damage to the hair and offering long-lasting results.
●Bead Installation Method: Tiny silicone-lined beads are used to create a row, then the extensions are sewn onto the beads for a secure and natural look. No glue or sewing is required, making them easy to remove and reinstall.
●Tape Installation Method: Medical adhesive tape bonds natural hair to the hair weft, allowing for quick and easy installation, but long-term use is not recommended.
●Clip-in Method: Clips are sewn onto the hair weft, allowing it to be clamped directly onto the hair for easy removal and wearing at any time, suitable for temporary volume addition or for those who do not want long-term wear.
Tape-Ins
Tape-in Hair Extensions are a semi-permanent hair extension method that uses medical-grade adhesive strips to securely attach the extensions, instantly adding length, volume, and fullness to your hair for several weeks. They can be reused by replacing the tape.
We offer three types of Tape-in Hair Extensions:
●Virgin Classical Tape-Ins: Our classic option comes in packs of 10 pieces, weighing 25 grams per pack, suitable for adding a small amount of volume or creating highlights.
25 grams per pack, 2.5 grams per piece, 10 pieces per pack,
14" - 16" thickness: 0.8 - 0.9 mm, 18" - 20" thickness: 0.75 - 0.85 mm,
22" - 24" thickness: 0.7 - 0.8 mm
,26" - 28" thickness: 0.65 - 0.75 mm.
●Virgin Injection Tape-Ins: These utilize machine-injection technology to mimic natural hair growth, providing an invisible, seamless look.
14-16 inch: 10 grams per pack, 2 grams per piece, thickness 0.8-0.9 mm;
18 inch - 28 inch: 12.5 grams per pack, 2.5 grams per piece, thickness 0.65-0.85 mm.
●Remy Classical Tape-Ins: Each pack contains 20 pieces weighing 50 grams, designed for achieving a voluminous and natural effect.
Not at all—provided they are applied and cared for correctly! Tape-in extensions are a gentle approach that requires no heat, tools, or harsh chemicals. With proper care, your hair can remain healthy and beautiful!
This depends on your hair's thickness and the look you want to achieve:
●For medium to thick hair:
To increase length: 150-200 grams
To increase volume/thickness: 100-150 grams
●For fine or thin hair:
To increase length: 100-150 grams
To increase volume/thickness: 150-200 grams
Yes, they are completely suitable for beginners! As long as you have a bit of patience and the right tools, you can definitely do it yourself! Before you start, ensure your hair is clean, dry, and free of oils. Section your hair using a comb and secure the remainder in a high ponytail or clip it away. Place the tape close to the roots, sandwich a small section of hair between two strips of tape, and press firmly with pliers to secure the bond. If the extension won't stick, you may be using too much hair in that section.
Use a professional adhesive remover or oil and apply it to the areas where you need to remove the extensions. Let it sit for 2 hours to loosen the adhesive. Carefully peel away the extensions without pulling. After removal, clean any residue with a gentle shampoo and warm water. Make sure the extensions are completely dry before reapplying tape.
With proper care, you will need to re-tape every 6-8 weeks, while the hair itself can last about 3 to 12 months, depending on how frequently you wear them and how well you care for them.
Pre-bonded Hair
Prebonded Hair Extensions consist of individual hair strands, each equipped with a keratin or protein bond at the end, specifically designed for long-term wear. These strands are attached to your natural hair using heating (hot fusion) or cold fusion techniques, which increases hair length, volume, and color, creating a natural, invisible effect that can last for several months.
We offer five types of Prebonded Hair Extensions, each designed to meet different hair types and styling needs:
●Ktip Hair Extensions: Combining the advantages of Itip and Flat Tip Hair extensions, these can be bonded to your natural hair using heating tools like Flat Tip Hair or secured with beads like Itip Hair. If the keratin tips are preserved properly, they can be reused.(25strands/bundle,1g/strand)
●Itip Hair Extensions: Individual strands are connected to your hair using micro rings/beads that are clamped down with pliers—no heat, glue, or tape required! These can be reused.(25strands/bundle,0.8g/strand)
●Nano Tip Hair Extensions: These use tiny nano rings to clamp the extensions to your natural hair, making them a very small and discreet extension type that feels almost weightless. They are especially suitable for those seeking a seamless look and who have fine hair, and they can be reused.(50strands/bundle,1g/strand)
●Flat Tip Hair Extensions: With flat, keratin tips, these are securely bonded to your hair via the hot fusion method. They lay flat against the scalp, reducing pressure on the scalp and providing a very natural, discreet effect. If the keratin tips are preserved properly, they can be reused.(50strands/bundle,1g/strand)
●Micro Loop Hair Extensions: These use tiny metal rings/beads clamped to your natural hair without heat or glue, making them reusable and popular due to their convenience and minimal damage to hair.(50strands/bundle,1g/strand)
Absolutely! Our extensions are made from 100% human hair, so you can curl, straighten, blow-dry, or even dye them just like your natural hair. Just remember to use a heat protectant spray and handle them with care.
Yes—we strongly recommend having a professional stylist install I-tips. This method requires precision and the right tools to securely attach the extensions without damaging your natural hair, ensuring you achieve the best and most natural-looking results!
Clip-Ins
Clip-ins come with small clips that allow you to easily wear them at home in just a few minutes—no salon visits, tools, or glue required. They can temporarily increase the length and volume of your hair without damaging your natural hair. They can be clipped in or taken out at any time based on your needs, making them very convenient for special occasions or everyday wear.
We offer five types of clip-in hair extensions, each designed to meet different hair textures and styling needs:
●135-150G Remy Classical Clip-Ins: This is a thicker version of our standard clip-ins, designed for individuals who want more volume. They easily increase both volume and length, suitable for medium to thick hair.
●135-150G Remy PU Injection Clip-Ins: Made with a flexible silicone base, these clip-ins mimic the growth of natural hair, providing an ultra-natural and nearly invisible look—ideal for fine hair and seamless blending.
●160-200G Remy PU Genius Clip-Ins: Featuring ultra-thin Genius Weft technology and a PU base, these clip-ins lie flat against the scalp, making them comfortable and natural for daily wear.
●105G Remy Classical Clip-Ins: Our classic version suitable for most hair types, making it an ideal choice for first-time users.
●110G Virgin Classical Clip-Ins: Made from high-quality virgin hair that offers volume from roots to tips, creating a natural look.
We do not recommend wearing clip-in extensions while bathing, sleeping, swimming, or exercising. This is because the substances in water, seawater, and sweat can damage the extensions and may lead to tangling. It is advised to remove the clips before these activities. Putting the clip-in hair extensions back on only takes a few minutes, so there's no need to worry!
Since hair extensions do not receive the natural oils from your scalp like your own hair does, they do not need to be washed frequently! We recommend washing them when you notice buildup or every 5-10 uses. Be sure to use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and let them air dry to keep the extensions fresh and smooth!
To achieve a truly natural blend, we recommend that your hair be at least shoulder-length. Your hair needs to be long enough so that the clips can secure properly and hide beneath your natural hair. We suggest consulting an experienced hairstylist to blend the extensions with your natural hair, regardless of your hair length.
As long as you wear and use the clip-ins correctly, they will not damage your natural hair. The clips are lined with silicone, which minimizes the pulling and pressure on your hair. That said, we still recommend treating your natural hair gently when putting on and taking off clip-ins, and to avoid pulling on the extensions during the day. Backcombing your hair before applying the extensions can also decrease the risk of damage.
Hair Topper
A hair topper is used to cover thinning areas on the top of the head or scalp, or to add volume to the hair on the top or head, allowing it to blend perfectly with natural hair to create a fuller effect. Unlike a wig that covers the entire head, a hair topper is secured with clips and is specifically designed to conceal receding hairlines or overall hair thinning while avoiding the heat and weight of a full wig.
We offer 5 types of Hair Toppers, each designed to meet different base needs:
●3*5 Inch Remy Mono Base Hair Topper — Full hand-tied base
●5*5 Inch Remy Mono Base Hair Topper — Full hand-tied base
●3*5 Inch Virgin Mono Base Hair Topper — Combination of hand-tied and machine-made base
●6*7 Inch Remy Mono Base Hair Topper — Combination of hand-tied and machine-made base
●6*6 Inch Remy Fishnet Base Hair Topper — Combination of hand-tied and machine-made base
Yes. As long as you're wearing the correct size, toppers tend to be more comfortable than wigs because they are a lighter-weight hairpiece that sits on top of your head. They are also more comfortable in warmer climates because they are more breathable than a wig that covers your entire head.
●Determine the area of hair loss and choose the appropriate base size. Use a soft measuring tape to measure the widest part of the hair loss area, measuring from front to back and from left to right. When selecting a base size, choose a size that is 1-2 inches larger than your measurements to allow enough hair for securing the topper.
●Choose the appropriate color.
●Choose the appropriate length. It is generally recommended to select a length that is 2 inches longer than your natural hair. Our hairpieces are actually 1 inch longer than the length you purchase. Measuring method: Take the longest strand of hair from the topper, straighten it, and then measure with a tape measure.
For more details, you can check our blog: "How to choose a suitable topper hair?"
Typically, human hairpieces should be washed after wearing them 8 to 10 times. They also need washing when the hair looks or feels a bit sticky.
First, comb the wig with a wide-tooth comb to remove tangles. Then, rinse it with warm water in the direction of the hair strands. Use a small amount of shampoo and gently lather it. Once the wig is fully wet, rinse it again with clean water in the direction of the hair strands. Then, use conditioner, but be careful not to apply it to the net part. After rinsing with warm water, gently pat dry with a towel and let it air dry. Avoid combing the hairpieces while they are wet.

We don't advice sleeping in your hair topper since it can further weaken your thinning hair and shorten its lifespan.
